Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
These terms have not yet been reviewed by external legal counsel. They are provided for transparency while the product is in early access.
1. How Filecraft works
Filecraft is a browser-based file tools platform. When you use a Filecraft tool, the processing happens locally in your browser using standard web APIs. Your files are not uploaded to Filecraft servers during normal operation.
This means Filecraft does not have access to your file contents, and we cannot see what you are processing. For a detailed explanation of the local processing model, see our Security and architecture page.
2. What we collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address and display name (provided during sign-up)
- Authentication data (managed by our identity provider)
- Plan and subscription information (managed by Stripe)
We may also collect:
- Product usage analytics, such as which tools are used, whether processing succeeded or failed, and coarse file size ranges. These events never include file names, file contents, or exact file sizes. Analytics are provided by PostHog.
- Feedback you choose to submit through the in-app feedback widget, including the message text, the page you were on, and your name and email if you provided them. Feedback is stored for support and product improvement purposes.
3. What we do not collect
Filecraft does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- File contents
- Exact file sizes, file names, or file paths
- Document metadata (author, creation date, etc.)
- Document previews or thumbnails
- Extracted text from documents
Because file processing happens in your browser, this data never reaches our servers.
4. Cloud integrations
Pro and higher plans can import files from OneDrive and SharePoint and save results back. When you use a cloud integration:
- Your browser authenticates directly with Microsoft using OAuth. Filecraft does not store your Microsoft credentials.
- Files are downloaded from Microsoft into your browser, not through Filecraft servers.
- Processed files are uploaded from your browser directly to your cloud storage, not routed through Filecraft servers.
At no point in this flow does file content pass through Filecraft infrastructure.
5. Cookies
Filecraft uses cookies for session management and anonymous analytics identification. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking. No cookie contains file data. Session cookies are httpOnly and not accessible to client-side scripts.
6. Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe. Filecraft does not store credit card numbers or other payment instrument details. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.
7. Data retention and deletion
Account data (email, name, subscription status) is retained while your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your account data within 30 days.
Fiscal administration data (billing records, invoices, and associated contact details) is exempt from deletion and retained for the period required by applicable law.
Because file contents are never transmitted to our servers, there is no file data to retain or delete.
8. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@filecraft.io.
Because file processing happens locally in your browser, there is no file data stored on our servers to access, correct, or delete.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
9. Enterprise server-assisted processing
Enterprise accounts may optionally enable server-assisted processing for files too large to handle in the browser. This requires explicit user consent before each use. Server-assisted processing is not available on Free, Pro, or Team plans.
Data handling for server-assisted processing will be documented in a separate Enterprise security addendum prior to Enterprise plan availability.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
11. Contact
Filecraft is operated by MJ Projects B.V., registered in the Netherlands.
For questions about this policy or to exercise your data rights, contact us at hello@filecraft.io.
