Common questions
What does this tool verify?
It checks: (1) the document has not been modified since sealing, (2) the manifest seal is valid, (3) the timestamp hash matches, and (4) the timestamp seal is valid. Each check is independently verifiable.
Do I need to upload the file?
No. All verification runs locally in your browser. The evidence package never leaves your device.
What does "not checked" mean?
Some checks cannot be performed in a browser environment. For example, verifying that a timestamp authority's certificate chains to a trusted root requires system-level certificate stores. These checks can be performed using command-line tools like OpenSSL.
What file do I need?
You need the evidence-package.zip file produced by the Seal PDF tool. It contains the original document, manifest, cryptographic seal, and optional timestamp token.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Filecraft Verify is available on all plans, including Free.
Why does Adobe Reader show the seal as invalid?
Adobe Reader may show "invalid" or "untrusted" for Filecraft Completion Seals. This is expected — the seal uses a self-issued certificate, not one from Adobe's Approved Trust List. Filecraft Verify is the authoritative verification system for these seals.
